FORK DAMPING ROD HOLDING TOOL

TFDH 01

This tool does NOT work with ALL damping rods. It works only with hollow, open-top rods.

1 - Remove the fork spring and oil.

2 - Invert the fork leg. Give the damping rod holding bolt a couple solid hits with a brass drift and a steel hammer. This will jar the thread and makes removal a lot easier.

3 - Insert the Holding Tool into the center of the damping rod from the top. Hit the end of the tool with a plastic mallet a few times so it wedges into the damping rod.

4 - Hold the tool so it can't rotate either with a socket or a #3 Phillips. Remove the damping rod bolt from the bottom.

5 - Remove the tool from the fork. The damping rod will be attached to it.

6 - Tap the damping rod off of the tool.
